Pimpdaddysupreme believes that everyone has a right to comment on the culture that controls them, and with consolidated corporate interests bombarding us with advertising and government propoganda on a daily basis, this right is more important than ever. Pimpdaddysupreme.com is empowered media, a place where people outside of mainstream culture can make the case that cultural recycling, political awareness and unconformity are far more important than anything you will see in mainstream media. The country that taught us "We The People" are in charge of our destiny now tells us to shut up and buy. It steals our cultural heritage and claims it as it's own, only to litgate if we steal it back. Our outlets of Free Speech dwindling on a daily basis, FM, AM, TV, Internet radio all being gobbled up by corporate/government control. Making it impossible to compete both in volume and affordablilty. We have been taught to believe that Government was our problem, but our lack of education has made the importance of Lopez Ceremonies more important than our own history. The problem is not Government, but our lack of representation. Our voice is not heard over the billions of corporate dollars buying our freedoms. The powers that be don't want us to buy it back (paying taxes), they want us to buy their product. And as Government and corporate interest become more and more intertwined, Government will cease to exist. We will no longer be ruled by democracy, but Feudalism. (look these words up, please) As wage slaves, we cannot afford to fight these battles in the facist courtrooms of America. We have no choice but to forge our way through the wilderness creating our own rules, and reclaiming what is ours "By any means necessary". The Man
After a series of bad relationships forced him into seclusion, Shane Martin coined himself Pimpdaddysupreme and started his own college radio show entitled "The Naked Cow Hour". The show, an homage to his father's novelty songwriting carrer, played the best of novelty music and "bad" music to an appreciative audience. Eventually expanding into "Naked Cow Nights" and the never fully conceived "Naked Cow Theatre" all were discarded to create 88.3 WMTS's first Weekday Morning Show, "Naked Cow Mornings". He took on a sidekick named Chilicheeseburrito and hired the talented Matt the PM to report local Traffic.
PDS also headed up WMTS's promotions department and was the first to bring their benefit shows such widespread success. Holding Shows in Nashville's ledgendary Exit/In, the multi level (now defunct) Music City Mix Factory, and all a plethora of Murfreesboro clubs (Sebastians, Mainstreet, the Boro, etc...) he helped raise more than $8,000 in one year alone. Saving the money to help purchase much needed equipment for the small 250 watt station.
During his morning show he also started to appear on an experimental plunderphonic broadcast, hosted by his friend and coworker Matt the PM, the called The Radiophonic Workshop (named after the BBC series of the same name). It was here that we begin to see the true birth of the Pimpdaddysupreme we see now. No longer just a man looking to cash in on the self-proclaimed nature of masculinity to attract women, but an experimental musician with confidence to push the limits of expression and copyright to better attract the short attention spans of the MTV/BET/VH1 generation(s). Plus, it was just pure fun making all of that noise!!!
In Late 1999 MTSU was served with a cease and desist by the Multipurpose MegaCorporation TRW. It seems that The Radiophonic Workshop (TRW) had mimicked a TRW logo and placed it the context that "TRW had completely destroyed my orgasm". Needless to say, TRW was as familiar with Negativland as The Radiophonic Workshop was with Trademark Law. So, at the whims of the university, Matt the PM changed the name of his program to Workeshoppe Radio Phonik (WRP) and WRP is still Matt the PM and PDS to this day. They work together and explore their solo projects, playing live shows around the country. The most notable appearences being Recycled Rainbow & 91.1WRUW(Cleveland, Ohio), PDS on WFMU's Re:Mixology, PDS at the H2K2 conference in NYC.
Pimpdaddysupreme's projects have garnished attention on NPR, Tech TV, and Spin magazine to name a few. He is still waiting for the cover of Better Homes and Gardens, but isn't holding his breath.
