I saw F-9/11 today and was utterly disgusted with what I saw. It left me shaking and upset for about an hour after leaving the theater. Not only was my hatred of this administration more than tripled, but it made me fear that this movie might not stay in theatres due to it's limited release.
In fact, it made me want to actively search out local theater managers and ask them WHY THEY WERE NOT SHOWING THIS MOVIE!!!! For crying out loud, the two (very small) theaters in the Green Hills movie complex (Tennessee) have been sold out for the last two days.
I assumed that the "Citizen's United" and "Move America Forward" had won the battle in stopping cineplexes from showing Michael's film. But upon reading some stuff on the web I know now that F-9/11 will be able to overcome it's visibility problems.

"Fahrenheit 9/11" opened in 868 theaters, a wide release for a documentary but narrow compared to big Hollywood flicks. The film averaged $25,115 a theater, compared to $7,190 in 2,726 cinemas for "White Chicks."
Mr. Weinstein predicted that "Fahrenheit 9/11" would certainly take in $50 million, and possibly $100 million. He said he expected the film to expand to twice as many theaters next week, and ultimately to be on as many as 2,000 screens, a scale that would redefine the traditional reach of documentary films.

New regulations from President Bush's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, complete the goal of gutting HIV-prevention education in the United States.
These new regs require the censoring of any "content" -- including "pamphlets, brochures, fliers, curricula," "audiovisual materials" and "pictorials (for example, posters and similar educational materials using photographs, slides, drawings or paintings)," as well as "advertising" and Web-based info. They require all such "content" to eliminate anything even vaguely "sexually suggestive" or "obscene" -- like teaching how to use a condom correctly by putting it on a dildo, or even a cucumber.
And they demand that all such materials include information on the "lack of effectiveness of condom use" in preventing the spread of HIV and other STDs -- in other words, the Bush administration wants AIDS fighters to tell people: Condoms don't work.
Bush has turned money earmarked for fighting AIDS into political pork for his Christer base. Much of this money goes to anti-abortion groups masquerading as "women's health" or "crisis-pregnancy" centers.
There's only a tiny window of opportunity to try to get the new CDC censorship rules changed before they go into effect (the deadline for public comments is August 16 -- they may be e-mailed to HIVComments@cdc.gov or faxed to 404-639-3125.) But when the regs begin to be felt, just watch already-rising AIDS infection rates really soar.
